After your drug policy has been finalised and implemented in your organisation, it is important to provide employees with guidance about your policy and training on the indicators of drug abuse. A successful dissemination of your drug policy through educational workshops, presentations and campaigns will help clarify its contents and coverage, and assist you in making sure employees adhere to your policies.
We can conduct the communication of your drug policy and safety trainings at key points during employment. Some of these educational opportunities are:
New employee orientation
It is vital that new hires are oriented about your company’s drug policy, whether you conduct inductions as a big event or a simple handing over of a new employee kit. We facilitate engaging and interactive group sessions that will make your new employees informed and involved in your Drug-Safe workplace objective.
Alcohol and other drugs safety training
Most companies already conduct workplace health and safety trainings annually, and we can help you integrate an alcohol and other drugs safety training into this program. Our training presentations are concise, professional and can accommodate up to 30 participants at a time. It includes a discussion of the drug policy you have in place, the impact of drug use in the workplace, the reasons and motivations for drug and alcohol use, and the substances most commonly abused by Australians. It also provides training on what behaviours to look out for in colleagues who are potentially using drugs.
Fit for Work training
For employees in supervisory and managerial roles, we conduct the Fit for Work training to educate your staff on how to carefully handle concerns in the workplace involving alcohol and drugs. Drug use is a sensitive issue because it not only affects an employee’s performance at work but it is also intertwined with that person’s private life and struggles. This training will equip supervisors and managers with the skills to recognise and manage risky behaviours in employees, and give them an in-depth understanding of the reporting processes in that are in place to handle such situations.
In order for these programs to be successful, alcohol and drug safety education should not just be a one-time event. With all the responsibilities employees have at work, it is easy to set aside and forget the policies. Your Drug-Safe consultant will keep you informed regularly of the progress and performance of your programme which also includes a regular update or refresher workshop for any staff you feel should attend.
